I'm Late!
The Queen Will Have My Head!
It’s Sunday, February 8th, 2026, and I completely spaced out on preloading a 9:30 entry for today’s Cynickal Art!
So this is off the cuff…
As the title might suggest, I do sometimes feel like the poor White Rabbit from Lewis Carrol’s timeless tale. I look at the state of the society I live in—the United States of Whocaresica, somehow still surviving into the second quarter of the 21st Century—and I see an absurd landscape reminiscent of Wonderland.
Like the nasty Queen of Hearts, we’ve a perpetually enraged ruler—and no, I am not just talking about the narcissistic buffoon in the highest office in the land, but the people of whom he is ultimately the representative.
And this is likely to offend you, whoever you voted for: I’m not just talking about the people who voted for the narcissistic buffoon!
Even those who voted for the other corporate shill did it out of outrage, in opposition.
Understandable as that is, given the circumstances, it still doesn’t change the fact that both parties are bought and paid for by special interests that filter bribes through Super PACs, and they unscrupulously stoke our outrage for votes with no intention whatsoever of following through on any meaningful policy.
How can I remark, then, that those in office now are yet the representatives of the people?
Well, because like the people, they are easily manipulated by more powerful forces to go against their own (stated) principles when and wherever they fear losing something for themselves.
So though we can rightly complain that the politrickians never follow through with their platform promises, we cannot complain that they have done anything differently than ourselves insofar as honoring those principles the integrity of which were always the only real safeguard against corruption.
Of which principles do I speak?
How have we dishonored them?
I must leave you, dear reader, to work out the answers to those questions for yourself, for not everyone operates according to the same set of principles, but everyone is, I am assured, met with many opportunities within a lifetime to betray them.
