Why do they think they must worship and praise a pattern?

Those who understand how to operate according to the pattern conditioned them to perceive it so.

Can we stop this?

It is up to each individual, ultimately, to refuse to participate. To recognize the pattern for themselves and choose to either flow with it or go through the inestimable pain of altering it. Caveat Emptor!

Can someone else go through the pain this time?

Of course. But if you choose to turn away knowing you could have done something, you’ll always have to live with the knowledge of the anguish you left for others.
